What is New At Alice Smith?  Social and Emotional Learning

All Alice Smith students are experiencing Social and Emotional Lessons in their classrooms two times a week.  Teachers are using a district purchased curriculum titled Second Step.  The purpose of Second Step is to help our staff create safe and positive learning environments.  It also will build a common language throughout our school over time that strengthens relationships and builds school unity.  What do these lessons include?  The lessons include a focus on student success skills (also an A.V.I.D. term), building empathy, and problem solving.  To learn more visit secondstep.org.  OR give us a call!  You can contact your child's classroom teacher to find out more about what is happening your child's classroom.  If you would like to find out more about what Social and Emotional Learning looks like for all students at Alice Smith contact Ms. De St. Hubert!    You can contact her at 952.988.4201 or jody.dest.hubert@hopkinsschools.org

Vision 2031 Survey

We recently sent Hopkins parents a Vision 2031 survey and are pleased to have received 424 responses. If you have not yet completed the survey, we'd like YOUR input! Thank you for taking 15 minutes to complete this Moving From Exploration To Design survey.

Background Info: Vision 2031 is a collective vision. We are all in this together. We want to be transparent and accountable with how we make decisions and communicate our plans for change, based on input from you. We have taken time to review and move forward many recommendations that came from the November 2018 Vision 2031 Strategic Focus Teams (SFTs). Follow this link to read a detailed update about all of the exciting things we have done since last November.
To be even more strategic and community-focused, we need additional input on a few specific, more bold recommendations. Thank you for taking 15 minutes to complete this Vision 2031 Moving From Exploration To Design survey

Temperament:  How we react to the world around us

Join other parents and caregivers to explore what temperament is and how influential temperament is to our relationship with our children. By understanding temperament, a parent can work with their child rather than against them, respect their child’s uniqueness, and help their child learn to understand and accept themselves.
