There will be no school on Wednesday – Friday, November 27-29 due to the Thanksgiving Holiday.  Enjoy your time off with your family.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I’m the ‘New Guy’ in the District’s Special Education (SpEd) Office and I am a liaison for Special Education teachers, students, parents, and agencies working with our SpEd population. One of our pressing needs is providing Special Education Paraprofessional Substitutes for our Paraprofessionals. Our students require extra resources for their school day, and absence(s) of Para(s) really impacts our programming. Therefore, I’m trying to organize a cadre of parents from your school who would be able to help, often on short notice, in the event we are unable to access a Para Sub through our existing sub-provider (On Call). The positions are NOT volunteer, but rather, paid positions.

When I was an Elementary School Principal at Hale Community in Minneapolis, I was able to recruit twelve ‘stay-at-home’ parents who were interested and available to help. Many had degrees; some were teachers; but those are not required to fulfill Para guidelines. Some were available all-day; some mornings only, or afternoons only. The program continues at Hale and I’m hopeful we can establish a similar model at your child’s school.

If you are interested, or have any questions, please call, text, or email me.

Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely, Bob Brancale       C) 952.300.5130

Zero Day Enrichment Classes will be starting at Alice Smith on Thursday, December 12th.  Enrichment Classes have been designed with students PASSIONS and STRENGTHS in mind.  On Zero Day's students in grades 1 and 2 will combine together in a classroom of their choice and students in grades 3 and 4 will be doing the same.  Some of the classes that students will be able to choose from are: Song Writing, Yoga, Rock Painting, Cooking and so much more.  Our 5th and 6th grade students will continue to participate in their Literacy Rotations and our Kindergarten students will be sharing in the excitement by participating in passion activities amongst the Kindergarten classrooms.    Next Tuesday students will be learning about the class options and signing up for what they want to do.  Ask your child what they signed up for and how it connects to their passions and strengths.  We will share pictures after our first class so we can share our excitement about Zero Day Enrichment Classes with you!
